NEW MARKET, Va. - The Tigers had their best showing in three years at the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Cross Country Championships with a fifth place finish on the 6K course at the New Market Battlefield.

"It was a nice bounce back from last year," said Tiger coach Roger Erricker, referring to Towson's seventh place at the 2008 CAA's. "I thought we ran really well. We were very close to finishing third."

Heavily favored William & Mary (33) captured its seventh straight team title followed by James Madison (40), George Mason (126), Delaware (127) and Towson (139).

Junior Brandi Gervais was Towson's top finisher with a 23rd place, clocking a 22:25 in the field of 106 runners. Sophomore Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue stepped up turning a 22:32 that beat her personal record by 18 seconds.

Junior Lindsay Warfield and sophomore Katie Ogden finished within two seconds of each other to place 31st and 32nd respectively. Senior Megan DiGregorio ran her third best 6K with a time of 22:58 for a 38th place.
