TOWSON, Md. - Head coach Lisa Costello announced the addition of two talented recruits who will begin playing for the Tigers during the 2011 season. Delanie Dunham (Chambersburg H.S. /Chambersburg, Pa.) and Paige Martin (Northgate H.S./Newnan, Ga.) have signed a national letter of intent to attend Towson and play softball for the Tigers. They join an incoming class that includes Mickelle Oslin and Stefani Polonia.
"I'm excited to have Delanie and Paige join us," said Costello. "I believe they have the talent that can help us on the field."
Dunham, who joins the Tigers from Chambersburg High School, was a four-year starter in the infield and team captain. She was a three time Tri-State all star selection in addition to earning Central Pennsylvania Big II all-star honors. Dunham was also selected to the Pennsylvania State Coaches Association all-star team. For her career, she hit .368 with 12 doubles, 13 triples, 18 home runs, 52 RBIs and 24 stolen bases. She plays her club ball for the Newtown Rock Gold.
Martin joins the Tigers after spending the last two seasons at Tallahassee Community College. In her two years for the Eagles, Martin posted 15-5 record with a 2.65 ERA in 150.1 innings pitched. This past year, she was a second team All-Panhandle Conference selection. She had a 7-4 record with a 2.65 ERA, en route to earning the all-conference honors. During her career at Tallahassee, Martin struck out 132 batters, including 84 in 82 innings during the past season. At Towson, Martin will reunite with Haley Stueckler as the duo was teammates during the 2009 season. At Northgate, Martin helped lead her team to the state tournament all four years, winning the regional and finishing in the top two in the state twice.
