Tigers Add Five for 2011 Season

TOWSON, Md. – A group of five talented soccer players will join the Tiger men’s soccer team for the 2011 season, it has been announced by Coach Frank Olszewski.
Led by a pair of high school seniors, Michael Greene from Tuscarora High School and Justin Breidenstein from Calvert Hall College High School, the recruiting class includes three players from the State of Maryland.
“Our coaching staff, including assistants Billy Chiles and Darius Qualls, has done a great job in securing this incoming recruiting class,” said Coach Olszewski. “We have been able to add quality players, students and leaders who will represent our program and University in the ‘Tiger’ way. They are winners and we look forward to having them join our program.”

Daniel Grundei
Defense | Nuremberg, Germany
Club Team: 1. FC Nuremberg
High School: Bertolt-Brecht Gesamtschule H.S.
Highlights: Member of Germany Youth National Team … team captain for 1. FC Nuremberg … U-18 German National champion … Academic Scholar.
Coach Olszewski Says: “Daniel is someone who will have an instant impact in our backline. He has been a captain throughout his career and will be counted upon to continue that leadership from the center of the defense. His experience with the German National Youth Team and at 1. FC Nuremberg along with his speed are ideal attributes for a central defender.

Michael Greene
Defense | Frederick, Md.
Club Team: Baltimore Bays Chelsea Academy
High School: Tuscarora High School
Highlights: First team Maryland all-state selection … member of national champion Baltimore Bays Chelsea Academy team … earned NSCAA Regional All-America honors at Tuscarora High School … named as an NSCAA Scholar All-American … also earned ESPN Rise All-Star notice.
Coach Olszewski Says: “Michael is a student and athlete who will certainly make his mark on and off the field. He has been the unsung hero in his Academy team as they captured the National Championship while facing the top attacking players in the country.”
Anthony Okodua
Forward | Laurel, Md.
Junior College Team: Prince George’s Community College
Highlights: Led the nation with 27 goals and 21 assists in 2010 … earned first team JUCO All-America honors … named first team all-region … also selected first team all-state.
Coach Olszewski Says: “Excitement, maturity and leadership come to mind when I think of Anthony. Our fans will be pleased with his approach to the game. He plays every minute like it is his last and his positive attitude will be contagious.”
CJ Corey
Midfield | Reston, Va.
Club Team: Arlington Venom
High School: Bishop O’Connell High School
Highlights: Team captain for Bishop O’Connell … earned All-Met notice by the Washington Post … named as an ESPN RISE All-Star.
Coach Olszewski Says: “CJ is another personality that brings leadership to the team. He sets the highest standards for himself. He is constantly in motion and has an engine that does not stop. He has a thirst for the game and always makes good decisions that put him in good spots on the field. For sure, he is a two-way midfielder with the technique to match.”
Justin Breidenstein
Defense | Forest Hill, Md.
Club Team: Baltimore Bays Chelsea Academy
High School: Calvert Hall College High School
Highlights: Member of national champion team with Baltimore Bays Chelsea Academy … selected as a Player to Watch by the Baltimore Sun and Top Drawer Soccer.
Coach Olszewski Says: “Justin is a no-nonsense defender that epitomizes the term ‘hard worker.’ His preparation means he is always on the lookout to improve. He has played well with the Baltimore Bays Chelsea Academy team and is a real battler. He has good pace and is a real student of the game.”
