A valuable addition to the coaching staff, Lance Mauck joined the Tiger baseball program prior to the 2008 season.

Before joining the Tigers he was the head baseball coach at Baltimore City Community College and Anne Arundel Community College.

In addition, he spent eight summers as the manager of the Staunton Braves of the Shenandoah Valley League in Virginia. While managing and coaching the Braves in the prestigious league, he worked with 27 players who have been selected in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, including pitcher Chris Perez of Cleveland, Gaby Sanchez of Miami, and Jon Jay of St. Louis. 

Mauck helped Staunton win a division pennant in 2003 and 2009 and the Braves were championship finalists in 2004 and 2006.

In 2009, he led Staunton to a 27-17 record and a first place finish in the South Division standings.

In June of 2011, Coach Mauck was hired by the Baltimore Orioles to throw batting practice for the remainder of the regular season.  

At Baltimore City, Mauck led his team to their first playoff appearance in 18 seasons. The Red Devils set a school record with 29 victories in the 2005 season. The Red Devils also participated in the schools first-ever Final Four Region 20 Tournament. In his four year stay at Baltimore City, Mauck made three consecutive playoff appearances. He also sent 23 players to baseball programs at four-year colleges, and during his one season at Anne Arundel Community College, nine of his players graduated to four-year schools, including former Towson pitcher Duane Herr.

A 1990 graduate of Dundalk High School, Mauck lead the Owls to a regional championship in 1989. He also played at Dundalk Community College for two years and was the team’s Most Valuable Player as a freshman. In his sophomore year, he earned All Maryland Juco, and All Region notice as a catcher.

 In 1993, he played for Corrigan Ins. (Formerly Johnnie’s), and Walter Youse, helping the team post a 57-14 record and helped win an AAABA National Championship, in Johnstown, Pa.

A 1995 graduate of Davis & Elkins, he was a two-year standout for the Senators’ baseball team. As a senior, he was named first team All-West Virginia Athletic Conference while leading the Senators to the WVIAC Northern Division title and a regional tournament appearance. Mauck earned 1st Team All WVIAC and helped the team post a 13-6 league record.

He earned his B.S. in Education from David & Elkins College, and his M.A. in Health from Salem International University. 

Coach Mauck currently teaches in the Health Life Fitness Department as an Assistant Professor at Baltimore City Community College, and resides in Dundalk, Md.
