RICHMOND, Va. – Senior goalkeeper Mary Teeters has been named as the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week, it has been announced by league officials. Teeters, who earns weekly honors from the conference for the first time this season, shared the award with James Madison’s Casey Ancarow.

“With a save percentage of .682 currently, it’s clear to see that Mary is a difference maker on our team,” said Coach Sonia LaMonica. “I have no doubt she will continue to be the huge anchor on defense that she is, particularly in pressure situations which she seems to thrive in.”

Teeters led the Tigers to wins over UMBC at home and a road upset of No. 12 Loyola. She finished with a 4.50 goals against average and 20 saves in 120 minutes.

On Wednesday against UMBC, Teeters made nine saves including seven in the second half, to help the Tigers secure an 11-3 victory. She also collected two ground balls against the Retrievers. On Saturday at Loyola, Teeters made 11 saves, including two big saves in the final five minutes, to preserve the one-goal lead. Her ninth save in that game gave her 500 for her career. Teeters is the seventh player in school history to reach 500 saves for their career.

Teeters is now 3-0 this season with a 4.71 goals against average and 30 saves. Her save percentage of .682 ranks first in the CAA.

Teeters and the Tigers, who are now ranked No. 20 in the deBeers Inside Lacrosse media poll, will be back in action on Wednesday, Mar. 7 when they travel to Johns Hopkins for a 5 p.m. contest.
