CENTREVILLE, Mass. – For the fourth time this season, senior Kacy Catanzaro of Towson University has been honored as the winner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Gymnast of the Week Award, it has been announced by ECAC officials.
Catanzaro, who was also honored by the ECAC on Jan. 24, Feb. 7, and Feb. 28, led the Tigers to a pair of wins over Rutgers and West Chester on Saturday.
She clinched the Tigers’ narrow win over Rutgers by finishing off the meet with a 9.875 score on vault, enabling the Tigers to post a 193.45 team score as they edged Rutgers by 0.25 points.
In the meet
at Rutgers, Catanzaro finished first on vault (9.875) and beam (9.875) en ro

to winning the all-around title with a 39.075 score. It was the second-highest
all-around score of her career and the fourth time this season that she topped
39.00-mark.
Catanzaro’s 9.875 on beam also established a career high.
At Rutgers, she tied for third place on floor exercise with a 9.80 score and earned a 9.525 on bars.
“Kacy is having the best season of her career,” says Tigers’ Coach Vicki Chliszczyk. “She is healthy and her confidence grows every week. She has had an incredible year.”
Catanzaro, who won the fourth all-around title of the season at Rutgers, leads ECAC Division I with a 38.96 Regional Qualifying Score (R.Q.S.) in the all-around. She also tops ECAC Division I gymnasts with a 9.85 R.Q.S. on vault while her 9.805 R.Q.S. on bars is also first. She is also first on beam with a 9.78 R.Q.S. and ranks fourth on floor (9.748).
In nine meets, Catanzaro has finished first on vault five times and won the bars four times. Catanzaro has also taken first place on beam four times in addition to her four all-around titles.
Catanzaro and the Tigers, now 16-5 on the year, close out the regular season this weekend. On Friday evening, the Tigers host Pennsylvania, George Washington and Yale in the Towson Center at 7:00 p.m. It will be the Tigers’ Senior Night Meet as Catanzaro and the Tigers’ other four seniors are honored.
The Tigers conclude the regular season with a dual meet at George Washington on Sunday afternoon.
