ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Junior Ariel Burke and freshman Lorena Ferrer of the Towson women's tennis team were victorious in a pair of doubles matches Friday as the Tigers took part in the opening day of the Bill and Sandra Moore Invitational hosted by Navy.

Burke and Ferrer upended Ava Leischen and Megan Maffei of Manhattan in the opening round of the "B" Flight doubles 8-0, advancing to face Audria Bell and Gabrielle Moxey of Howard. The Tiger duo defeated Bell and Moxey 8-4 before falling to Stefanie Ton and Mikaela Carlson of Navy, 8-5.

Also in the "B" Flight doubles, the Tigers' Moriah Burke and Cailey Easdale trimmed Vivian Chau and Kristy Yau of Navy 8-5 before falling to a pairing from Nova Southeastern.

In the "B" Flight singles action, Ferrer defeated Stephanie Tsao of Manhattan by a score of 8-2 before falling to Gabby Winter of Navy 8-3. Easdale also earned a singles victory in the "D" Flight of singles, while Andrea Samlin also notched a singles victory in the "C" Flight.

The Tournament will continue through Sunday.
