TOWSON, Md. - After winning its first dual match of the season last week against Mount St. Mary's the Towson women's tennis team returns to action Friday at the Navy Blue and Gold Invitational as part of a three-day tournament in Annapolis, Md.
Against the Mount, the Tiger doubles teams of Nani Lizana and Andrea Samlin and Cailey Easdale and Moriah Burke each earned victories to help Towson secure the doubles point.
The junior Lizana was the only Tiger to earn a victory in singles and doubles action against Mount St. Mary's. She defeated Samantha Pinchoff 7-6 (10-8), 6-1 at No.1 singles to earn the victory. Nisha Shah, Lorena Ferrer and Ariel Burke all also recorded straight set victories against The Mount.
Shah, Ariel Burke and Ferrer are all tied for the team lead with three singles victories, in addition to senior Andrea Samlin. However, Burke is the only Tiger with three singles victories and a winning record (3-2).
The tournament will continue through Sunday.
