DULUTH, Ga.
– The Towson men's golf team concluded play at the second annual AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic today, finishing 13th overall in a highly talented field.
Junior Joe Gunerman carded a 74 to finish tied for 19th in the 88-person field that included nine players ranked among the top 100 in the nation. Gunerman has now shot 74 or better in each of his last five rounds.
Freshman Alex Church shot Towson's second best round on Monday by posting a 76. He ended the tournament tied with Tiger junior Matt Fry as both finished with a 54-hole total of 232.
Georgia Southern won the tournament with a combined team score of 859. Georgia State claimed second (866) followed by Mercer (874), No. 49 Chattanooga (881) and Winthrop (885). Seventh-ranked Georgia finished sixth, while Towson topped Jacksonville, Wisconsin and Old Dominion in the 16-team field.
The Tigers wrap up the fall portion of their schedule October 28-30 at the Kiawah Intercollegiate, played at the Turtle Point Golf Course in Charleston, S.C.
