TOWSON, Md. - Looking to build on a strong start to the season, the Tiger women's basketball team is back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 20. Towson travels across town to take on UMBC at 5 p.m. in RAC Arena.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 with a 61-57 win over Morgan State in their home opener last Tuesday. Sophomore forward Camille Alberson and senior forward Michelle Peebles had career performances for the Tigers off the bench in that contest. Alberson led the team with 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Peebles added 11 points and five rebounds in that contest.
For the season, junior guard Tanisha McTiller leads the Tigers averaging 14.5 points per game with 11 assists. Junior forward Nyree Williams paces the Tigers on the boards with 13 per game.
The game also features the return of Tigers assistant coach Tiffany Coll to her alma mater. Coll played for current Retrievers head coach Phil Stern as a senior.
UMBC (2-2) is coming off a 66-58 loss to Loyola on Saturday. Lauren Chase led the Retrievers with 18 points in that contest while Raven Harris added 14 points. Chase has scored in double digits in the first four games of the year and is averaging 18.3 points per game. The Retrievers' leader on the boards is Brittany Crowell, who is pulling down 7.0 boards per game.
Following Tuesday's game, the Tigers will return to the court on Sunday, Nov. 25 when they travel to Loyola (Md.) for a 2 p.m. game.
