TOWSON, Md. - Towson University women's lacrosse senior defender Alexa Demski was named a second team Preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse this week. It is the second straight year that Demski has been named to the list by the magazine.
Demski started the first 16 games last season before suffering a season-ending injury in the regular season finale. Despite missing the final four games of the year, she was named a third team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). A member of the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List, Demski was a first team IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region selection and a first team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) pick.
Demski led the Tigers with 20 caused turnovers last year and finished second on the team with 39 ground balls. She scored her second career goal in the win over Richmond. Demski recorded 11 draw controls over the course of the season.
Demski and the Tigers, who were ranked 17th in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Preseason Rankings, will open their 2013 season on February 15 at North Carolina.
