TOWSON, Md. - After a week off for the holidays, the Tiger women's basketball team returns to the court on Sunday, Dec. 30. Towson (5-5) welcomes Maine to the Towson Center for a 2 p.m. tip-off.
The Tigers are coming off a 69-61 win over Delaware State on December 21. That win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Tigers and was spurred by the performances of sophomore guard Ciara Webb and junior guard Tanisha McTiller. Webb exploded for a career-high 22 points while McTiller finished with 20 points. Sophomore forward Markell Smith and redshirt junior forward Nyree Williams led the Tigers on the boards with eight.
McTiller leads the Tigers on the season as she is averaging 16.2 points per game. Senior forward Michelle Peebles is adding 8.7 points per game and a team-high 12 blocks. Williams leads the Tigers on the boards with 7.5 per game.
Maine is coming off an 88-43 loss to James Madison on Friday night. Danielle Walczak led the Black Bears with nine points and five rebounds in the game.
Ashleigh Roberts leads the Black Bears as she is averaging 10.9 points and 2.2 assists per game. Liz Wood leads Maine on the boards while contributing 5.2 rebounds per game.
Following Sunday's game, the Tigers are back in action when Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play begins on Sunday, Jan. 6. Towson will travel to Drexel for its conference opener.
