FAIRFAX, Va. - The Tigers were defeated by the George Mason Patriots and Boston College Eagles Saturday in a double dual meet in Fairfax, Va. The Tigers were downed by George Mason 195-99 and defeated by Boston College on the meet's last relay, falling 154-140.
Tiger sophomore Matt Lowe won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:41.80, the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:33.74 and finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:56.01.
Freshman Michael Slattery was also impressive for the Tigers, with two top-five finishes on the afternoon. He was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.98, but also placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.54 seconds.
Towson head coach Pat Mead said there is still work to be done as the team approaches the conference championships.
"We need to be able to go into those close meet situations and be able to walk away with a win," he said of his team's close finish with Boston College. "We were not sharp and we could've won the meet. We need to begin to believe we can win."
