WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Led by freshman Katie Sassa, the Tigers (1-0) opened their season with an impressive win over William & Mary on Saturday evening.

With a very young team, the Tigers posted a 192.025 team score while the Tribe had a 188.750 score.

Competing in her first college meet, Sassa finished finished first on floor (9.675), second on vault (9.725) and second on beam (9.80). Freshman Abby Griswold also had a big meet as she took third place on beam (9.70) and bars (9.70).

Sophomore Samantha Lutz took first place on bars with a 9.75 score while newcomer Rebecca Osmer finished second on bars (9.725).

The Tigers did not compete with an all-arounder.

With a 48.125 team score on bars and a 48.00 mark on beam, the Tigers pulled out the meet.

Towson returns to action next Saturday night at Penn State.
