TOWSON, Md. - The Tigers play their second straight home on Thursday, Jan. 17 when they host George Mason at 7 p.m. in the Towson Center.
George Mason leads the all-time series between the two schools, 15-9. The Tigers and Patriots split their two meetings last year with each squad winning on its home floor. Towson has won four of the last five meetings in this match-up.
Towson (6-8, 0-3 CAA) enters Thursday's game looking to bounce back from a tough 56-49 loss to Georgia State. Despite having just seven players available for the game, the Tigers rallied from a double digit deficit to pull to within five late in that game. Junior guard Tanisha McTiller led the Tigers with 15 points and 12 rebounds against the Panthers. It was McTiller's fourth straight "double-double" performance.
McTiller enters play Thursday night, ranked second in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) stats for points per game. She is averaging 17.1 points and a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game. Senior forward Michelle Peebles is contributing 8.1 points per game while redshirt junior forward Nyree Williams is posting 7.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
George Mason (5-9, 0-3 CAA) enters the game looking to bounce back from a 67-53 loss to Hofstra on Sunday afternoon. The Patriots were led by Amber Easter who had 17 points and seven rebounds in that game. Rahneeka Saunders is the Patriots' leading scorer this season, she is averaging 11.6 points per game. Easter is providing an average of 9.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
The Tigers hit the road following Thursday's game for road contest at Delaware (Jan. 20) and William & Mary (Jan. 24). Towson returns to the Towson Center on Sunday, Jan. 27 to host UNC Wilmington at noon.
