TOWSON, Md. – Freshman fullback Emmanuel Holder of Towson University has been named to the College Sports Journal FCS All-America football team.
As first-year freshman, Holder appeared in all 11 games for the Tigers and started twice. In addition to helping Towson average 229.0 rushing yards per game with his blocking ability, he also proved to be a very effective receiver out of the backfield.
He caught six passes for 60 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers. He helped the Tigers earn a 34-27 overtime victory at Delaware when he caught three passes for 36 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Late in the first half, he gave Towson a 14-7 advantage when he scored on a 25-yard touchdown pass. With 44 seconds left in regulation, he caught a three-yard TD pass that gave Towson a 27-24 lead.
In the season finale, a 64-35 win at No. 7 New Hampshire, Holder caught one pass for three yards and a touchdown as the Tigers upset UNH to earn a share of the Colonial Athletic Association championship.
Holder also ran the ball three times of 22 yards.
The Tigers finished the season as the 17th-ranked team in NCAA FCS while posting a 7-4 record. Towson shared the CAA championship with Villanova, New Hampshire and Richmond. Each team had a 6-2 record in CAA action.
