Good morning Tiger Nation and welcome to the Morning Roar.

Let’s Unleash the Roar

I don’t say this often, but it is a relatively slow weekend for Towson athletics. There are three teams in action on Saturday and one on Sunday, but none of them are home. But Baltimore sports fans don’t have to be conflicted this Sunday, as the Ravens take on the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. Heck, even @Towson_WLAX was sporting their purple pride yesterday during practice in preparation for Sunday’s big game.

But before the big game,  @Towson_WLAX will be holding a Winter Warm-Up Clinic for high school players to get ready for their season. The clinic will take place at 9 a.m. inside Unitas Stadium and players will have the choice to train on specific parts of their game in which they'd like to improve.

But let’s get back to the teams in action later today. The women of @Towson_SWIMDIVE will be looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season when they travel to Penn State to take on the Nittany Lions at 1 p.m. The women are 10-1 on the season and 6-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The men will be looking to snap a four meet losing streak when they join the women up in State College on the campus of Penn State. The meet is set to get underway at 1:00 p.m.

@Towson_GYM is back in action today at noon when they take on Cornell University. The Tigers have improved in every meet so far this season, with their season high coming last weekend with a 193.000 at home against Bridgeport, Lindenwood and Ursinus.

@Towson_MLAX’s John Fennessy has been selected to the Preseason All-CAA team. The Tigers as a team were selected to finish in sixth out of seven teams in the CAA in the latest preseason poll.

Hardwood Talk

@Towson_WBB will take the court in Boston when they take on Northeastern at 2 p.m. on Sunday. The Tigers are looking to bounce back after a tough loss to JMU on Thursday night.

@Towson_MBB has the weekend off before they host UNCW on Monday. Don’t forget that Monday is the Tigers Autism Awareness night. The Tigers are very closely affected by the disease, check out manager Johnny Gillin’s story and see how he is overcoming with the help of the Tigers.

Thanks for reading another edition of the Morning Roar, be sure to check back the same time Monday for more the latest. Follow me on Twitter @ZachMaskavich and Go Tigers…and Ravens!
