TOWSON, Md. - Playing their second game in three days, the Tiger women's basketball team returns home to host Drexel on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m.
The Tigers (7-13, 1-8 CAA) and Dragons (14-6, 7-2 CAA) will be meeting for the second time this season. The two squads met on January 6 in Philadelphia as the Dragons claimed a 76-55 win behind 20 points and six assists from Hollie Mershon. Junior guard Tanisha McTiller led the Tigers with 28 points and 10 rebounds in that game.
Towson and Drexel will be meeting for the 64th time overall. Drexel holds a 44-19 advantage in the series and has won seven straight. Towson's last win in the series came during the 2009-10 season at home.
The Tigers will be looking to bounce back from a close call against Northeastern in this game. Towson fell 59-56 despite a career-high 30 points and 12 rebounds from McTiller.
For the season, McTiller is averaging 18.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Senior forward Michelle Peebles is contributing 9.4 points per game with 21 blocked shots.
Drexel is coming off a 79-55 win over Georgia State on Sunday. Mershon and Taylor Wootton combined for 45 points in the victory.
Mershon is currently leading the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) while averaging 18.9 points per game. She is also adding 6.7 rebounds per game. Wootton is contributing 11.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game this season.
Towson returns to action following this game on Thursday, Feb. 7. The Tigers will host CAA leading Delaware and All-American Elena Delle Donne at 7 p.m.
