TOWSON, Md. – The all-time leading scorer in program history, Shanae Baker-Brice returns to the Towson University women’s basketball team as the director of basketball operations, it has been announced by head coach Niki Reid Geckeler.

“I’m very excited that one of our outstanding student-athletes and a daughter of Towson University is returning home to join our staff,” said Reid Geckeler. “Shanae was a fierce competitor on the court and that competitive fire still burns in her. Shanae’s passion for Tiger Athletics will truly make her an asset to the Towson community and our young women.”

A four-year standout, Baker-Brice competed in 121 games for the Tigers from 2006-10. She led Towson to 71 victories during that stretch, including 37 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. She holds the school record for career field goals made (635) and career free throws made (442). She ranks second in career steals (295) and third in career assists (467). Baker-Brice is a four-time All-CAA honoree who earned first team accolades as both a junior and a senior. She was also named to the CAA All-Defensive team as a junior.

After graduation Baker-Brice played professionally in Edremit, Turkey as well as for Njardvik in Iceland. Baker-Brice averaged 23 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in 31 contests for Njardvik. She was named MVP of the Powerade Cup after contributing 36 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists. Baker-Brice’s performance gave Njardvik its first championship in franchise history.

She spent part of the last three years working at Howard University with Reid Geckeler. She served as both a volunteer assistant coach and the Bison’s director of basketball operations.

“Basketball had been a huge part of my life and I hope to give back all of my basketball knowledge to Towson University,” said Baker-Brice. “I look forward to the upcoming season with the Tigers.”
