TOWSON, Md. - Recently TowsonTigers.com sat down with Amanda Novy for a brief, getting-to-know-you chat. Novy was a captain in 2012 and started 17 of 18 games played. She took 21 shots.

TT.com: How did you feel the spring season went? What improvements did you see in team dynamics and in your own game?
Amanda Novy: I thought our spring season went really well. After having such a hard fall season, it felt good to improve on things that we didn't do as well in the fall. We worked on possession a lot, which really improved our game. Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle in the spring season, so I was not able to play. I have a lot of work to do to get myself ready for the fall.

TT.com: What parts of your game do you see yourself working on in the fall?
AN: In the fall I want to really work on switching the point of attack. I noticed a lot last fall I would tend to take the ball back in the direction it came from. I also want to continue working on being a leader on the field.

TT.com: You were a co-captain last season and will be a senior this fall. What kind of leadership role do you see for yourself?
AN: In the fall I want to be a strong leader for my team. I want to be able to lead by example. I will continue to work hard on and off the field. I will also do my best to motivate my team. I will have a positive relationship with my teammates in order to have a successful season.

TT.com: Why did you decide to become a special education teacher? Have you already completed your student teaching?
AN: I decided to become an elementary and special educator because I really enjoy working with kids. I want to be able to make a difference in children's lives and help them succeed. After working with a group of special education students, I was inspired to become a special educator. I have done some student teaching in my junior year, but I will start full team student teaching in my senior year.

TT.com: Do you have any summer plans? What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer?
AN: My plan for the summer is to just work. I also plan to get ready for the upcoming season. When I am not working, I enjoy going to the beach and going on a boat. I also love to hang out with family and friends.
