LOS CABOS, BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR, Mexico - The Towson men's golf team concluded its trip to Mexico on Tuesday, finishing third at the 2013 Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate.

The Tigers entered the final round in a tie for second-place and made up 10 strokes on the leader by posting a 294 team score on Tuesday. However, UC-Irvine carded a 290 to rally and win the event by one stroke over day two leader San Francisco.

Towson (886) finished just four strokes behind UC-Irvine (882) and just three behind San Francisco (883). Santa Clara (889) and Bowling Green (890) rounded out the Top 5 finishers in the 11-team field. 

Senior Matt Fry matched his second best round of the season with a 70 on Tuesday. His 218 54-hole score was his best of the year and placed him in a tie for third overall in the 57-player field.

Freshman Juan Veloza finished in a tie for 10th overall with a 220, while senior Joe Gunerman posted his best round of the tournament with a 72 on Tuesday.

Jobim Carlos of San Francisco won individual medalist honors by five strokes over Tyler Thomas of Texas State.

The Tigers next compete at the Pirate Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C. from October 27-29.
