Navy Blue & Gold Invitational Concludes Sunday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy Blue & Gold Invitational concluded on Sunday, but due to rainy conditions, no consolation brackets were used in the tournament.

It was the second tournament at the Naval Academy for the Towson University women's tennis team this season and over the weekend, the Tigers had a strong showing.

On Friday, Nisha Shah and Belen Lizana earned a doubles victory in a close decision over a duo from Navy, an 8-7 (7-0) decision over the Mids in a pro set. 

Also earning a victory in doubles action on Friday were Lorena Ferrer and Cailey Easdale, who upended another Navy duo by a score of 8-2.

After winning a singles match on Friday, freshman Sophie Lesage carried that momentum into Saturday, upending  Georgetown's Sophie Paranese 8-5 to advance to the quarterfinals of the B Flight singles bracket. However, Lesage was then defeated by Shelby Harris of Mary Washington 7-6 (1), 7-5.

Saturday, junior Ayana Dow defeated Erin Snook of Navy 8-5 befeore falling to Lana Robbins of George Washington 6-1, 6-1.
