Coming off her third "double-double" of the year, junior Kandace Davis leads the Tigers against Vermont.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Looking to bounce back from a tough loss in the opening round, the Towson basketball team will meet Vermont in the consolation round of the State Farm Classic hosted by the University of Florida on Tuesday. The Tigers (7-2) and Catamounts (5-6) will tip things off at 5 p.m.

Towson and Vermont will be meeting for the 15th time in the all-time series with the Catamounts holding a 12-2 advantage. The two teams have not met since the 2000-01 season when both were members of the America East conference.

In a 69-68 loss to Miami (Ohio) on Monday, the Tigers received 15 points from junior forward Katrina Wheeler while junior forward Kandace Davis posted her third "double-double" of the season. Davis finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds while sophomore forward Dovile Miliauskaite contributed a season-high nine points and nine rebounds.

On the season, the Tigers are led by junior forward Shanae Baker-Brice, who is averaging 16.2 points per game. Baker-Brice also leads the squad with 40 assists and 27 steals. Wheeler is averaging 10.9 points per game and 8.9 rebounds per contest to go along with a team-high 12 blocked shots. Sophomore guard Omara Parker is the third Tiger averaging double figures as she is contributing 10.1 points per game. Davis is second on the team in rebounding, averaging 8.0 per game.

Vermont suffered an 85-76 loss to Florida in its opening round game on Monday. The Catamounts were led by Courtnay Pilypaitis, who recorded 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals. May Kotsopoulos had 25 points and five rebounds in the game while Alissa Sheftic finished with 19 points and six rebounds.

After Tuesday's contest, the Tigers return home on January 4 to open Colonial Athletic Association play against William & Mary. Tip time between the Tigers and Tribe is set for 2 p.m.
