TOWSON, Md. The Tigers close out the home portion of their 2008-09 basketball season Wednesday night when they host Delaware. Opening tip is 7:00 p.m. The game will be carried locally on WBAL (1090 AM) Radio.

This is the rematch. Towson won the first game 62-61 played on Jan. 5th in Newark when freshman guard Troy Franklin scored on driving bank shot with 2.1 seconds left. Towson’s leading scorer, Junior Hairston, was doubtful for that contest due to an illness but came off the bench to score a game high 17 points in 23 minutes of action. Delaware was led by Marc Egerson with 13 points and a season high 17 rebounds.

The Tigers, who are tied for 10th with William & Mary in the CAA standings with an identical  4-12 league record, could move into a tie for 9th with a victory over the Blue Hens. Delaware is 5-11 in conference play.

This is the 27th consecutive year the Tigers and Blue Hens have met, making this series Towson's longest continuous rivalry in men's basketball. This is the 61st game in the series with the Blue Hens ahead, 36-24. Delaware ruled supreme when both were members of the America East Conference. The Blue Hens rattled off 12 straight wins until the Tigers stopped the streak with a 59-53 victory in Newark in their first meeting as CAA schools. Since then the Tigers have won 9 of the last 16 games played. Delaware's 36 wins in the series are the most by any one opponent against Towson. Likewise, the Tigers' 24 wins in the series are the most by Towson against any CAA opponent. Towson is 17-10 against the Blue Hens at home.
