TOWSON, Md. – Towson has a number of top seeds that hope to excel when the Tigers host their annual Towson Invitational Track Meet Saturday in Johnny Unitas Stadium beginning at 10:30 a.m.
“The kids are excited because it’s a home meet, our only home event of the season,” said Tiger coach Roger Erricker. “We’re also looking at this as a dry run for when we host the conference championships later in April.”
Johnny Unitas Stadium will be the site of the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Track and Field Championships April 17 and 18.
Expected to lead the way for Towson in tomorrow’s open, unscored meet will be the team’s only senior, hurdler Alea Murphy who is the top seed in both the 100 and 400 hurdles. Sophomore Motara Okusaga and junior Rachel Jochem figure to perform well in the 400 hurdles also.
Junior Jill Meshey is the top collegiate seed in the 100 meter dash. Junior Alana Nedd is the number one seed in the high jump while sophomore Lindsay Bumbernick is the high seed in the triple jump.
The meet gets underway at 10:30 am with the 10,000 meter run and the field events.
