The Judith Richardson Kistner and Louis Kistner Memorial Scholarship for Athletics will be awarded to student-athletes based on financial need and/or academic merit.
This is the couple's second legacy gift to Towson University. They pledged to fund the Judith Richardson Kistner and Louis Kistner Memorial Scholarship for Elementary Education in 2011. That scholarship also will be awarded based on financial need and/or academic merit.
"I loved my time at Towson and had a wonderful experience," said Judith Kistner. "The professors were wonderful, and I am still in touch with guys and gals from my class. As season ticket holders for football, we take great pride in the passion and enthusiasm the student-athletes show every time they take the field."
Judith Kistner, a Baltimore native, received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (cum laude) from Towson State College (now Towson University) in 1965. She taught in the Baltimore County Public School System as well in a local independent school. She has done volunteer work with the Baltimore Symphony Decorator Show House Committee and the College Manor assisted living facility.
Louis Kistner, also a Baltimore native, received his undergraduate degree from Loyola College and went on to earn his master's degree (with honors) from The Johns Hopkins University. He is the founder and principal of Louis H. Kistner Consulting Group, LLC. Prior to establishing his consulting company in 2001, he retired from Millennium Chemicals, where his career included leadership positions in human resources and global responsibilities for external relations.
"Judith and Louis's generosity to Towson Athletics advances our Winning, Academics and Relationships priorities," said Waddell. "I am humbled by their support."
