Let’s Play Two: The Tiger field hockey team continues its home stand with a pair of games this weekend. Towson hosts VCU for a non-conference game on Friday before taking on James Madison on Sunday.
Series History: The Tigers will face VCU for the 17th time overall on Friday. The Rams hold an 11-5 advantage in the series despite the Tigers picking up a 3-1 win in the meeting last year.
Towson and James Madison will be meeting for the 19th time overall. The Dukes hold a 17-1 lead in the series after picking up a 1-0 victory when the two teams met last year.
Updating the Tigers: Towson fell to Providence in its last outing, despite a pair of goals from freshman Heather Jenney. Jenney and sophomore Courtney Branco lead the Tigers with four goals each. Branco has added two assists for a team-high 10 points this season. Sophomore Tashani Dickson has made 48 saves in goal.
Scouting VCU: The Rams are 6-0 to start the season for the first time in school history and are one of four unbeaten teams left in the country. Senior Kelsey Scherrer was named the A-10 Player of the Week on Monday after recording a two goals and an assist in a pair of games last week. Scherrer has five goals and three assists on the season. Megan Botteri has made 30 saves in goal.
Scouting James Madison: The Dukes enter the weekend having won four straight, including an upset of No. 18 Boston College in their last outing. James Madison travels to Drexel on Friday before visiting the Tigers on Sunday. Taylor West comes into Friday’s game with three goals and two assists to lead the Dukes. Lena Wimmert has 38 saves in goal.
Let’s Get Defensive: The Tigers recorded their second defensive save of the season on Sunday against Providence. Freshman Casi Neidigh made a stop for the Tigers against the Friars. Sophomore Kelly Mattingly had a defensive save earlier this season.
