Good Morning, Tiger Nation. I am @Simon_HWT aka The Heavyweight and it's time to Wake Up on the Strong Side.
--A Strong Season Closes
Towson Women's Lax finished up their 2012 campaign this weekend, with a 15-8 loss at the hands of Penn State -- led by former Towson coach Missy Doherty. The victors will go on to face No. 1 Florida, while the Tigers conclude a 16-win, record-breaking season.
The Nittany Lions pieced together scoring runs throughout the game. Following Andi Raymond's game-opening goal for the Tigers, they would not see another lead for the remainder of the game. Penn State scored five unanswered goals in a window just over six minutes.
The Tigers would then fight back to cut the defecit down to one goal before the first half concluded. But Penn State would open the second half with another five-goal run and would not look back.
The CAA Champions have a lot to be proud about for their 2012 season -- coach Sonia LaMonica brought home a second consecutive CAA Coach of the Year award, while five Tigers earned first team All-CAA honors: sophomore attack Andi Raymond, junior midfielder Kelly Custer, junior defender Alexa Demski and senior goalkeeper Mary Teeters (who also got some attention on the Tewaaraton Award watchlist)
