Good morning Tiger Nation, I’m Zach Maskavich and this is the Morning Roar.

Tiger fans, have you ever wondered what exactly the @Towson_FB players go through on a daily basis during summer camp? Well check out senior running back Dominique Booker’s daily schedule during camp.

Tiger Hall-of-Famer Courtney Gonzalez (Softball and Soccer) continues to give back to Towson Athletics as a part of the Tiger Club. Check out her story about why she continues to give back to her alma mater.

Congratulations to @Towson_GYM as you can see the Tigers finished sixth in the 2011-2012 NACGC/W Scholastic All-America Awards.

Let’s Unleash the Roar

Yesterday, the @Towson_WSOC team boarded the bus and started the drive to Chicago, Illinois where they will hold a practice today and prepare to take on DePaul on Friday, in their first game of the 2012 season. I had the chance to talk with Head Coach Greg Paynter yesterday before the team left.

While the Women’s Soccer team was preparing to leave for DePaul, @Towson_FB was in the middle of their fourth of five scheduled two-a-day practices. After the morning practice I caught up with Quarterbacks Coach Jared Ambrose (@CoachJambrose). Ambrose is “sleeping better” this camp knowing that he has a starting QB in place heading into the season.

Then I went out to check the tail end of the afternoon practice and I got to the field all the players were in a huddle jumping around and yelling. It turns out that Head Coach Rob Ambrose was pleased with the team's performance and graciously ended practice a little early yesterday.

I asked Wide Receivers Coach, Dassin Blackwell about the early ending and he said “I don’t know if there is an early day in football, just like there is no crying in baseball.”

Which is true, the players continued with position and team meetings into the night, but for the time being they got a little longer of a break.

A Look Outside Towson

Legendary Head Coach Bill Curry, now leading the Georgia State Panthers, plans to retire at the end of the 2012 season. This means that Curry will not be leading the team when they move from the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) in 2013.

It is no secret that Old Dominion and Georgia State are leaving the Colonial Athletic Association and thus will not be able to win a conference title in football or basketball this season. They are still playoff eligible for football and will be playing “CAA schedules” and ODU plans on using this as a motivational tool for their players.

Countdown to Kent State

As we get closer and closer to the battle against Kent State, it seems to me that both teams are on a eerily creepy similiar schedule. On Tuesday the Flashes were set to have two-a-days but their practice ended early for them, just like the Tigers did on Wednesday.  Kent State tight end Tim Erjavec and cornerback Darius Polk are preparing to take on a bigger role for their team in the 2012 season.

A few days ago I shared a story about Kent State lineman Pat McShane. As expected he has began to prove himself in camp and show coaches why he should be the starter at right tackle.

Thanks for reading another edition of the Morning Roar, be sure to check back same time tomorrow for more. In the meantime, be sure to follow me on twitter @ZachMaskavich.
