Good morning Tiger Nation and welcome to the Morning Roar.
To all the Tiger fans that came out on Saturday to support @Towson_FB, thank you and know that season tickets are still available! You can still purchase a four game pack of tickets for as low as $25 per ticket! Get them today and come out and #PackTheU on Saturdays.
Let’s Unleash the Roar
If you have been following last week’s Roars, which I know you have, you know that @Towson_FB wasn’t the only Towson team in action on Saturday.
@Towson_VB continued their winning ways by picking up yet another tournament win. Towson swept the Hilton University 49er Invitational by beating Kennesaw State and Charlotte. Senior Aubrey Kirven was named as the tournament MVP after she averaged 14 assists per set during the tournament.
@Towson_TFXC finished second at the Delaware Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Elizabeth Tauber led the Tigers by finishing ninth overall. On Friday the Tigers will host the Towson Invitational, which will start at 4:30 pm.
@Towson_FH played two games over the weekend, but are still searching for their first win of the season. Towson fell on Saturday on the road to Bucknell 6-0. Then the Field Hockey team played its first home game of the 2012 season and also dropped another game, this time to Providence 6-2. The Tigers' next three games are inside Johnny Unitas Stadium.. You can see highlights here. After the game, Towson Sports Network caught up with Head Coach, Michelle Webber.
Countdown to Homecoming
There were over 8,000 fans packing Johnny Unitas Stadium on Saturday to see @Towson_FB beat William and Mary 20-17 to earn its first win of the season.
In the win Terrance West tied a career high 27 carries and racked up 153 yards. Even though West didn’t score a touchdown, which is rare for the sophomore back the Tigers offense was still able to put up points. Senior quarterback Grant Enders passed for 234 yards including five passes to Erron Banks for 59 yards and a score.
The defense looked vulnerable at times but in the end it did enough to bring home a win for the Tigers.
In the latest installment of the Sunday Morning Quarterback Mat Schlissel - my Under Armour at the Half Guest on the Towson Sports Network Saturday-- broke down the Towson win and takes a look around the rest of the CAA.
Next Saturday marks Homecoming for the Tigers. It will be a week full of school sprit capped off by, what I hope to be a sellout, football game against St. Francis University. If the U is rocking, the Tigers should have no problem improving to 2-1 on the season heading into the game against LSU. But we can’t look to far into the future, the Tigers need to take care of business this Saturday against St. Francis.
Thanks for reading another edition of the Morning Roar, be sure to check back same time tomorrow for more. In the meantime follow me on twitter @ZachMaskavich.
