TOWSON, Md. - The Tiger student-athletes completed a successful Pigskin Pass prior to the start of the football game at the University of Delaware on Saturday. The Tigers and Blue Hens combined to raise over $20,000 for the Special Olympic programs in Delaware and Maryland.

The Tigers started the relay run with the special game ball from the 50-yard line of Johnny Unitas® Stadium on Friday afternoon. Before the start of their 29-mile part of the run, the Tigers heard words of encouragement from Rob Ambrose, the Tiger football head coach, and Beth Daub, the president of the Tiger Student Athlete Advisory Council.

Towson had 140 runners who took turns carrying the ball over the 29-mile journey to Aberdeen, Md. They were met in Aberdeen by Mayor Michael Bennett, student athletes from Delaware and the Delaware mascot, "YoUDee". The Delaware athletes then ran the ball the final 29-miles on Saturday morning and presented the game ball along with checks for the monies raised to the Special Olympics representatives prior to the start of the football game.

This was the fifth annual Pigskin Pass.
