COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Despite a third place effort from freshman Jacob Huston, the Tigers dropped a pair of non-conference decisions against Maryland and UMBC in a double dual meet at the Eppley Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers lost to the host Terrapins by a 191-93 margin and also fell to the Retrievers by a 201-61 count.
Huston earned third place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.93 seconds while Joe Mills placed fourth in the 200-yard backstroke by completing the event in 1 minute, 56.76 seconds.
Freshman Erik Hanson turned in a time of 54.75 seconds to earn third place in the 100-yard butterfly. Sophomore Ryan Westhafer also had a third place effort in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.77.
The Tigers will return to the University of Maryland for the Terrapin Cup, which begins on Thursday.
