TOWSON, Md. – The Tigers (2-4, 1-2 CAA) returned from winter break by hosting the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday at Burdick Pool in the team's first meet of the 2012 calendar year. Despite a pair of top-four finishes from Towson freshman Andy Disco, Maryland came away with a 239-59 victory.
“The positive for us was our aggressiveness,” Towson Coach Pat Mead said. “I wanted them to be aggressive in the front half of their swims because when we get to conferences, they are going to have to be confident in the front half of their races.”
The Terrapins received three individual victories from John Hauser, who won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events and the 200-yard individual medley.
Disco took fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.38 and second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.11.
Classmate Jon Burr finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.44.
The Tigers claimed three of the top five finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle, as Philip Forrester, Joe Mills and Cory Ornstein finished in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
The Tigers will next host the George Mason Patriots in a conference dual meet Saturday, Jan. 14 beginning in Burdick Pool at 1:00 p.m.
