RICHMOND, Va. – Senior midfielder Marco Mangione of Towson University has been named as a co-recipient of the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Soccer Player of the Week award for the week ending October 10, it has been announced by CAA officials.
It is the third time in Mangione’s career that he has been named as the CAA Player of the Week. He shared the award with Drexel University senior forward Nate Baker.
Mangione led the Tigers to a split of their two games last week, scoring three goals with an assist. After recording his third career two-goal game in the Tigers’ 2-0 win over Hofstra, he tallied a goal with an assist in a 4-3 setback against Drexel on Sunday afternoon.
The second-leading scorer in the CAA with 23 points, Mangione has scored eight goals with seven assists this year. He has either scored a goal or earned an assist in nine of the team’s ten games, including two-goal efforts against Lehigh and Drexel.
A second team All-CAA selection last year, Mangione has scored 16 goals with 13 assists in his career.
Now 7-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the CAA, the Tigers will host George Mason on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Towson Center Soccer Complex.
