ST. MICHAEL'S, Md. - Junior Emily Kwak is leading the way for the Tigers who are sitting fifth after one round of the 2009 Towson Women's Invitational Golf Tournament being held at Harbourtowne Golf Resort.
Yale has a commanding team lead with a 298. Southern Illinois is second at 313 followed by defending Longwood (315), Fairleigh Dickinson (320), Towson (328), Dartmouth (338), LIU (340), Fairfield (341), Mt. St.Mary's (346) and St. Francis of Pa. (363).
Kwak, a transfer from Redlands Community College who is playing her event as a Tiger, carded an opening round 80 to take the lead for Towson. Senior Alejandra Estrada is tied for 17th with an 81. Freshman Alison Tutelman is tied for 24th with an 83. Sophomore Airielle Dawson is tied for 27th with an 84. Senior Diana Woodall posted a 91 to place 47th.
Yale's Alexandra Lipa carded the only under par round, shooting a one-under 69 that included a 34 on the back nine.
Play resumes tomorrow with the final 18 holes.
