The Towson women's golf team is off to Pinehurst #6 where the Tigers will compete in the 2011 Colonial Athletic Association Championships this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Women's golf is in its fifth year of existence at Towson. In previous tournaments the Tigers have finished 8^th, 7^th, 6^th and 9^th (last year) in the CAA Championships.

"The spring season is coming to a close and we know we have the ability to finish well at conference," says coach Kate Stepanek. "Because of the weather in the last two events, we have not had the opportunity to come back on the second day. We are prepared and eager to compete this week. Everyone has had very good rounds this spring. Now it's a matter of putting four scores together on the same day."

Three seniors lead the way for the Tigers; Elisabeth Herzfeld, Sara Eichelberger and Emily Kwak.

Herzfeld, who is the last player remaining from Towson's original team in 2006-07, is the only Tiger averaging below 80 with her 79.0 average. She and Eichelberger own shares in the school record low round of 73. Eichelberger, still bothered by a nagging wrist injury, is hoping to finish strong.

Kwak is capable of posting low numbers. She opened the spring by taking medalist honors at the Lonnie Barton to become the first woman golfer at Towson to earn a first place finish in a tournament. In last week's rain shortened Roar-EE Invitational she carded a 37 on the front nine before the event was called.

Junior Airielle Dawson is also one to watch for a low score. She matched her career round of 74 back in March at the Lonnie Barton. Freshman Casey VanDyke is the fifth member of Towson's CAA contingent and has shown plenty of potential.
