Dion Harris is the Head Athletic Equipment Manager at Towson University. He oversees one fulltime assistant, an intern and a handful of student workers. He manages the equipment needs for 16 of the Tigers’ 20 intercollegiate sports.
Prior to coming to Towson, Harris served as the Assistant Athletic Equipment Manager at the United States Naval Academy for 15 years. There he maintained the athletic inventory for the Midshipmen. He was also in charge of the equipment budget for many athletic teams and the intramural program. In addition to supervising the team managers, he was also charged with the issuing of athletic awards (letters, jackets, etc.) to the Navy letter winners.
A Certified Equipment Manager in the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA), he was honored as the winner of the "Equipment Manager of the Year" award in District 2 in 1994. He recently served as District 2 Vice President for two terms and has been a member of the A.E.M.A for 20 years.
Dion resides in Anne Arundel County with his wife, Melanie, and their two children. Melanie is an administrator with the Anne Arundel County school system.
