TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University football team will make three national television appearances this season as part of the NBC Sports Network package that features five nationally-televised Colonial Athletic Association football games.

"I'm so honored and proud for everyone associated with Towson football that work so hard can now see the tangible reward of their efforts," says Towson Coach Rob Ambrose. "From player to fan, administrator to community member, we will all have the opportunity to represent Towson on a national stage in a way that has yet to be seen.  Kudos to everyone who has worked so hard in the name of Towson to make us worthy of this kind of attention."

The Tigers’ first appearance on the NBC Sports Network is set for Saturday, September 15 when the defending CAA champions host William and Mary at 12 noon.

On October 6, the Tigers’ visit to James Madison will also be aired on the NBC Sports Network. When the Tigers visit Delaware on November 3, the game will be the fifth CAA Football telecast.

The NBC Sports Network schedule begins on Sept. 8 as Delaware entertains Delaware State.

There are two CAA showdowns in October that will be televised. In addition to Towson’s visit to James Madison, the October 27 contest between Delaware and Old Dominion will be broadcast.

The national television schedule concludes with a pair of November league contests. In addition to the Towson-Delaware game, on November 3, the NBC Sports Network will also televise the game between Old Dominion and James Madison on November 17.

The NBC Sports Network, which is the 24/7 cable platform for NBC Sports, is available in more than 75 million homes. The network features coverage of the Olympic Games and Trials as well as the National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, the IZOD Indy Car Series and the Tour de France.

NBC Sports’ college football studio team of Liam McHugh, Doug Flutie and Hines Ward will provide pre-and post-game coverage on NBC and NBC Sports Network every Saturday. Game commentators will be announced closer to the start of the season.

The Tigers can also be seen on Comcast Sports Mid Atlantic and New England when they play at New Hampshire on November 17 at noon.

Games at LSU and Villanova will also be able to be seen on TV with full details to come at a later date.

In the 2011 season, the Tigers went 9-3 and were the most improved team in NCAA FCS as they won their first CAA championship and made their first NCAA FCS playoff appearance.

With eight starters returning on offense and nine returning starters on defense, Coach Ambrose and the Tigers are primed for another memorable season. Quarterback Grant Enders and wide receiver Tom Ryan lead the passing game while All-American back Terrance West also returns. West was the winner of the Jerry Rice Award as the top freshman in NCAA FCS. Last season, the Tigers averaged 34.8 points and 229.9 rushing yards per game to rank among the national leaders.

A pair of All-Americans, senior defensive end Frank Beltre and senior safety Jordan Dangerfield, will pace the Tigers' defense.
