TOWSON, Md. - When Coach Rob Ambrose talks about defensive end Frank Beltre, he smiles and says "I love his motor. He is always intense and focused and he loves to play football."
Coach Ambrose isn't the only one who appreciates the senior from Randolph, N.J.
A third-year starter at defensive end, Frank is being mentioned among the top defensive linemen in FCS football this season, earning multiple All-American honors.
Last season, he played a key role in the Tigers' turnaround season. A starter in 11 of 12 games, Frank was fourth on the team with 68 tackles. He also led the team with 12 tackles for lost yardage and had four sacks to lead the team.
In the Tigers' back-to-back wins over Maine and New Hampshire, Frank came up with some very big plays. He made six tackles and had a sack in the 40-30 win over the Black Bears in Orono. The following week, he made 12 tackles and forced a fumble.
Frank enters his senior season with 196 career tackles and should finish his career ranked among Towson's all-time leaders in tackles.
