TOWSON, Md. - For the fifth week in a row, Towson University is ranked among the Top 25 in The Sports Network/Fathead.com NCAA FCS College Football Weekly Poll, which was announced on Monday. The Tigers, who are now 6-1, are ranked 13th in the nation.
This is the highest national ranking that the Tigers have ever received at the NCAA FCS level. The previous best ranking was 15th. The Tigers, who were ranked 15th in the nation last week, moved up after a 38-27 win over William and Mary.
The Tigers, who are unbeaten against NCAA FCS competition this season, have won three games in a row. Towson is 4-0 against nationally-ranked opponents with wins over No. 20 Villanova, No. 14 Richmond and No. 18 Old Dominion prior to the victory over William and Mary.
Towson joins No. 8 Maine, No. 9 James Madison, No. 10 New Hampshire, No. 15 Old Dominion, No. 18 William and Mary and No. 21 Delaware as Colonial Athletic Association teams that are ranked in the Top 25. The CAA, which had nine teams ranked in the NCAA FCS last week, has seven nationally-ranked teams this week.
The Tigers, who are tied for first in the CAA with Maine (6-1, 4-0), return to Johnny Unitas® Stadium this week to host No. 21 Delaware on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
