TOWSON, Md. - Sophomore Derrick Joseph has been named to the FCS Kick Returners Watch List by the College Sports Performance Awards.
A second team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection in 2011, Joseph led the CAA with a 27.9 kickoff return average. He returned 35 kickoffs for 978 yards. In the Tigers' win over No. 8 New Hampshire, he had a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. It was only the sixth kickoff return for a TD in school history. It was also the first kickoff return for a touchdown by a Tiger in 17 years.
Joseph, who also plays wide receiver for the Tigers, had an 85-yard kickoff return in a win over Villanova. He also had a 33-yard return at Old Dominion and a 47-yard return against Delaware. Joseph also averaged 11.0 yards on four punt returns.
He also caught five passes for 68 yards.
Named as the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week last November, he was also named as an honorable mention All-American.
