TOWSON, Md. - Tight end James Oboh was one of the unsung heroes of the Tigers' Colonial Athletic Association championship team last season.
Although he caught only 16 passes for 297 yards last season, it seemed like he came up with some very important receptions. The Tigers' fifth-leading receiver, he averaged a team high 18.6 yards per catch.
In the Tigers' 38-27 win at William and Mary, Oboh caught a 31-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to give the Tigers a 14-3 lead.
When the Tigers' 56-42 victory over New Hampshire in their CAA showdown, Oboh played a major role. He caught three passes for 97 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns against UNH.
In the first quarter of the win over UNH, Oboh gave the Tigers a 14-7 lead when he took a pass from Grant Enders, ran down the sideline, leaped over a UNH defender and scored on a 56-yard pass play. Later in the half, he caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Enders to give the Tigers a 35-14 advantage.
In addition, his blocking ability enabled the Tigers to lead the CAA with 229.9 rushing yards per game.
One of 38 returning letter winners, Oboh will be anxious to begin pre-season preparations when the Tiger report for pre-season camp on Thursday.
