TOWSON, Md. - Led by 14 seniors and a pair of graduate students, the Tiger football team reports for pre-season practice on Thursday.
Starting his fourth season as the Tigers' coach, Rob Ambrose will be guiding the most experienced team he has had during his tenure.
In addition to a large senior class, the Tiger roster also features 15 juniors and 20 sophomores. The Tigers, who have 21 red-shirt freshmen and 23 first-year freshmen, have improved their depth with the addition of eight transfer students.
Graduate students Brian Boateng and Ben Chroniger, a pair of versatile defensive performers, are among the team's most experienced players.
Wide receiver Erron Banks, defensive end Frank Beltre, wide receiver Alex Blake, safety Jordan Dangerfield, linebacker Alexander DiSanzo, quarterback Grant Enders, tackle Cory Kirby, defensive tackle Matt Morgan, wide receiver Tom Ryan, wide receiver Gerrard Sheppard, defensive end Romale Tucker, linebacker Trevor Walker and linebacker Danzel White make up a very talented senior class.
On Thursday, the Tigers will report to their brand-new, refurbished locker room. Then they will have position meetings for the rest of the day.
The Tigers will hold their first practice of the pre-season on Friday afternoon.
Coming off a season in which they won the Colonial Athletic Association championship and earned a berth in the NCAA FCS playoffs, the Tigers have been chosen as the CAA pre-season favorites.
Towson has also been ranked among the top ten in several pre-season polls.
The Tigers open their season at Kent State on Thursday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m.
