Having broadcast college football for 25 years, you get used to not getting to watch what's going on around the rest of the college football world. When September rolls around you know that Saturdays are game days, and game days are exciting.

Towson played on August 30th against Kent State - a Thursday. Rarely do the Tigers play a non-Saturday football game. So then you think, ok, an extra couple of days before the next game. But for the second year in a row, the Tigers have had their bye in the second week in the season. This year that's a 10-day gap. For the players and coaches, it's a good time to go back to work on things that happened in game one, and continue to work on the things you worked on during training camp.

For the fans and broadcasters, it's a long gap. But it also gives you the chance to watch a lot of college football. Last Saturday, you were able to watch the entire William & Mary versus Maryland football game online. The Tribe will be at Unitas Stadium this Saturday, so that was a good way to scout the opponent. Yesterday was a chance to watch Delaware versus Delaware State on the NBC Sports Network. The Tigers will debut on that network this Saturday. For the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), it's a great platform to show why this conference has been considered the " SEC of FCS football." Delaware certainly showed its power on both sides of the ball in the Blue Hens' 38-14 win over the Hornets. It was interesting to see the note during the game that this was just the fourth time those two have met. What was surprising was to see so many empty seats at the TUB.

I don't think that will be a problem this Saturday at the U as the Tigers have their home opener. I haven't talked to Coach Rob Ambrose yet, but I am pretty sure he is not thrilled about the fact that William & Mary will come into Towson with an 0-2 record. The Tribe were 17-14 losers at home against Lafayette this past Saturday. The Tribe has had some problems with injuries at the quarterback position. They have used three different players there. Keep coming back to Towsontigers.com for more updates on this game. For the Tigers, it is huge to get off to a good conference start. For William & Mary, any hopes they have at getting to the post-season could rest on this game.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Tiger Talk this past Thursday at Bill Bateman's in Towson. Damon Lewis and I will be back there this Thursday from 6-7 p.m. We will be joined once again by Tiger football Coach Ambrose, along with another of the Tigers' head coaches. If you can't make it out to Bateman's, you can hear Tiger Talk right here on Towsontigers.com.
