TOWSON, Md. - On Friday, August 27, Towson University is teaming up with the Towson Chamber of Commerce Inc., in the festivities of Towson's "Feet on the Street" block party, giving Towson University students the opportunity to interact with community members.
"The Towson Business community is thrilled to welcome back our TU students for the 2010-11 year! It has been a great pleasure planning a big welcome back block party with the staff of Towson University" said Nancy Hafford, Executive Director of Towson Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
"Feet on the Street" takes place every Friday evening during the summer in Towson from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There is live music, food venders, children's activities and various beverages sold by the Towson Chamber. Inexpensive and convenient parking will be available.
The COPT building on Washington & Allegheny Avenues is providing $3.00 parking (you must enter after 5pm). Enter on Allegheny Avenue.
Towson University students have the opportunity to enjoy these activities after their first full week on campus. Towson University students that attend will have the chance to spin a prize wheel for great gift certificates from such local favorites as Pasta Mista, Burger Brothers, Ridgley and Ferrens Market Place and Towson Hot Bagels.
Additionally, students can quench their thirst at the event with free soda and water provided by the University's Division of Student Affairs.
Tiger Athletics will have an area with a Moon Bounce and the Tiger Toss for kids.
Members of the Tigers football team will be in attendance to sign autographs and fans will have the chance to participate in an Enter-to-Win contest. The lucky winner will receive two free football season tickets for the 2010 campaign.
The night's feature band is The Regal Beagles from Baltimore, Md.. The Towson Tiger Pep Band and the Towson University Cheerleaders will also be performing at the event.
Rob Ambrose, the Tigers' head football coach, will also be in attendance and he will speak to the crowd.
Allegheny Avenue closes at 5:00 p.m. between York Road and Washington Avenue.
Outside alcoholic beverages are not allowed and pets are discouraged from coming.
