TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University cross country team has been recognized by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for its hard work in the classroom, garnering a 2011 All-Academic Team award from the organization, it has been announced.

“It’s a great recognition for all the work the girls have done academically,” Towson Head Coach Roger Erricker said. “The support that we have in the Department of Athletics has been terrific and the strong academics we display is as big of a tradition as winning is for our team.”

Towson has a team grade point average 3.39, far exceeding the 3.0 GPA requirement of the USTFCCCA to bestow the award.

Six Tiger student-athletes on the team had a grade point average over 3.56, including graduate student Katie Ogden, seniors Erika Griffith and Katlyn Dillow, junior Hannah McKenzie and freshmen Ashley Simmons and Elizabeth Tauber
