TOWSON, Md. – Following a fourth place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship Meet, the Tigers will head to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Saturday hosted by Maryland Eastern Shore.
Towson’s fourth place finish was the team’s highest finish in the conference championship since 2004, when the team also finished in fourth place.
“Our whole body of work has now been established,” Towson Head Coach Roger Erricker said of his team’s late season outlook. “There were a couple of our runners who felt they could’ve done a little bit better at the CAAs. The season has been a success, but right now the final grade will be how we do for the rest of the season. I think that we are ready and everyone is confident.”
Towson senior Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue placed fifth in a field of 90 participants. It was the highest a Towson runner had finished in the championship meet since the team joined the conference in 2001. Gilmartin-Donohue recorded a 22:22 time on the 6K course, while receiving All-CAA cross country honors.
Joining her receiving All-CAA notice was graduate student Katie Ogden, who placed seventh with a time of 22:38. It was the first time that Ogden did not finish first for Towson this season.
Elizabeth Tauber, Kara Bucaro and Erika Griffith all finished with times under 24:00 in the meet. Griffith established a 2011 personal best with a finish of 23:35.
The Tigers will have just one final meet remaining this season following the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. The team will compete in the ECAC Championships Nov. 19 to close the season.
