TOWSON, Md. - It is rare in college athletics to have a freshman be a major contributor to a team. However, freshman Elizabeth Tauber is emerging as quite a performer for the Tiger cross country team this season.
A heralded scholastic runner at The John Carroll School, Tauber has been right behind upperclassmen Katie Ogden and Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue for the Tigers this season. Tauber has consistently been the third Tiger to cross the finish line in the team's six meets this season, and has three top-three individual finishes to her credit this year.
Tauber has been particularly strong in 5K meets this season. Tauber has finished no worse than third place in the three 5K meets she has competed in this season. Tauber's best overall time was at the Cappy Anderson Invitational Sept. 17, when she ran a 18:23.52, good for third place individually.
Her top overall finish this season was a second place individual performance at the Baltimore Metro Meet Sept. 2, the first meet of her collegiate career. Her time of 19:23.33 was second only to Ogden, who won the event by over eight seconds.
