LEWISBURG, Pa. - After winning the Johns Hopkins-Loyola Invitational last weekend, the Tigers scored 68.50 points and placed fourth Saturday at the Bucknell Team Challenge

Bucknell, who hosted the meet, was first with 196.50 points with Duquesne in second and Penn State third.

"The three teams that beat us are pretty darn good," Towson Head Coach Roger Erricker said. "We had some good performances, but we've still got work to do. If we want to meet any of our goals in the conference meet, we're going to have to do a little better. But it was a good stepping stone for us."

The Tigers had numerous notable performances Saturday, led by senior thrower Shianna Smith, who qualified for the ECAC Championship Meet and set a new school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 168' 8". Smith finished third in the event. She also threw the discus 129' 4".

Senior runner Kaylin Gilmartin-Donohue ran her fastest time of the year in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:41.70, while freshman Kara Bucaro won her heat in the event in 4:46.95.

Freshman Emily Wenger continued her mastery of the 400-meter hurdles, timing a personal best 1:02.17 while finishing second in the event. Though narrowly missing the ECAC qualifying mark, Wenger is now fourth on the school's all-time list with that time.

The Tigers are back in action Thursday when the team competes in the Penn Relays.
