Athletes wait their whole careers to accomplish a special feat, one that they will remember for years to come.
For pitchers, that one special moment could be throwing a no-hitter. That is the No. 10 moment on the Towson Top Ten for 2011-12.
Junior pitcher
Katie Lingmai and the Tigers took the field against Drexel on Saturday, Apr. 7 looking for a much needed Colonial Athletic Association victory.
Lingmai proved to be in control early and untouchable for most of the game.
In the bottom of the first, Drexel had its lead off batter reach via a three-base error. However, Lingmai responded by getting a strikeout, a ground out and a pop up to strand the runner. That was the only runner to reach third base against Lingmai all day.
The Dragons threatened again in the second as the leadoff batter reach via a walk but Lingmai stranded the runner at second base. She retired the Dragons in order in the third.
In the fourth, Lingmai got all the offense she would need as senior
Courtney Wittner had an RBI single and junior Kelli Lyons provided an RBI ground out.
Lingmai would allow just one more base runner the rest of the way en route to the 2-0 victory for the Tigers. Lingmai finished with four strikeouts in the game and earned her 10th victory of the season.
For Lingmai, it was the second no-hitter of her career and ninth in program history for the Tigers.
Check back on June 14th for the No. 9 moment in the countdown.
